Thornberry Animal Sanctuary

Thornberry Animal Sanctuary rescues and rehomes vulnerable and homeless animals including dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, and other animals. Started in 1988, the charity celebrates its 35th anniversary in 2023. Since starting, the sanctuary has helped to rescue and rehome thousands of animals and is now one of the most well-established and well-supported animal charities in South Yorkshire. The charity relies solely on the kindness of its supporters, grant funding, and income earned through its onsite retail shops. The sanctuary receives no government funding and so challenges like the ones with Run for Charity, are vital in helping to keep the sanctuary running. Over the last few years, the charity has seen some significant improvements at the sanctuary including a new onsite vet suite, dog exercise area, outdoor isolation pens, horse menage, and much more. These improvements have helped to increase the animal welfare offering of the charity, making sure that every animal who comes to Thornberry receives the best of care.
