Thomas's Fund

Thomas, who died aged 10, was not able to have his much-loved Music Therapy sessions when his condition kept him at home. In 2007, Jan Hall (who had been his Music Therapist at school) and Lucy Smith (Thomas’s Mum) decided to find a way to provide free Music Therapy, at home, for children and young people (aged 0 to 19) who have a life-limiting or life-threatening condition, or disability that, for medical reasons, means that they miss Music Therapy input during long absences from their school or setting. Since then, Thomas’s Fund’s ‘At Home’ work has extended into the community, children’s wards and neonatal departments. We provide our essential service across Northamptonshire, a large county still without a Children’s Hospice that might, otherwise, provide this service.
