Spinal Injuries Association

Every year in the UK over 2,500 people sustain a spinal cord injury, and there are an estimated 50,000 spinal cord injured people in the UK alone. Most spinal cord injuries result in full or partial paralysis and the impact of an injury can turn the lives of those affected, as well as their families’ lives, upside down.

With access to the right support and information people can still enjoy a fulfilled life after injury. Our range of services support everyone who needs to access expert information, advice and support when they need it most.

Sadly, it’s still the case that only one in three newly injured people will get access to the best possible care in an NHS spinal cord injury centre. That’s why our very existence is so crucial. We provide practical support from our range of regional coordinators, all of whom live with a spinal cord injury; our team of specialist SCI nurses who are there for those who need it; or emotional support through our peer-led counselling service. We also campaign and advocate, defending spinal cord injured people’s rights and pushing for better patient care.

If you have any questions about fundraising for SIA please get in touch with our fundraising team on fundraising@spinal.co.uk or call 01908 604191. We look forward to welcoming you to #TeamSIA!
