Roots4Life

The Charity focuses on two important reasons for its project: firstly, to help avoid the tragically destructive consequences of unhealthy eating; and, secondly, to give more children access to the significant positive life-long benefits gained by those who understand and practice healthy eating.

Over the past twenty-five years, rates of obesity in many countries around the world have risen significantly along with the life-long consequential health and social problems. Statistics from the Health and Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC) and the Office of National Statistics published in 2014 reveal that nearly 10% of children in reception class aged four and five are obese, rising to nearly one in five pupils in year 6 aged 10 and 11.

Roots4Life works hard to support children and families particularly in disadvantaged areas, reverse the affects of an unhealthy diet. It teaches cooking skills to adults and children to equip them with the necessary skills to help them avoid becoming unhealthy or obese.

The charity is currently working towards equipping a community area in South East London with a garden and teaching kitchen. It is supported by Jamie Oliver and Raymond Blanc.
