Refuge

1 in 4 women will experience domestic abuse in her lifetime.

On average, 2 women each week will be murdered by their current or former partner in England and Wales.

Refuge is the country's largest provider of services for women and children experiencing domestic abuse.

Through the 24-Hour National Domestic Abuse Helpline, emergency refuge accommodation and specialist services encompassing economic abuse, technological abuse, modern slavery, human trafficking, and so-called 'honour' based violence, Refuge empowers women to rebuild their lives.

Domestic abuse and violence against women and girls will only end when we create gender equality. Refuge is a feminist organisation striving for inclusivity and equality and our feminism is intersectional. Every day we work extensively and closely with survivors of domestic abuse, ensuring their diverse and varied experiences and needs are central to everything we do. We are committed to a world where domestic abuse and violence against women and girls is not tolerated, and where women and children can live safely.
