Established in 2011, Orchid Project is an international NGO with offices in Nairobi and London, working at the forefront of the global movement to create a world free from Female Genital Mutilation/ Cutting (FGM/C). Our mission is to be the catalyst in the movement to end FGM/C, a harmful practice which is a violation of human rights and which has devastating long and short-term health consequences. We do so by undertaking research, facilitating capacity strengthening of local grassroots organisations, knowledge sharing workshops and through advocacy. Orchid Project is well equipped to empower communities for sustainable transformation, abandoning FGM/C and advancing gender equality and empowerment of women and girls as envisioned in the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 5).
