empowerHER UK is a charity with a very specific mission — to empower, support, and connect girls and young women who have experienced the loss of a mother.
We provide in-person events that remind girls they are not alone in their grief, and a unique one-on-one mentor program with positive role models from the community who help show loss is survivable.
empowerHER UK programs are non-therapeutic, community-based, and volunteer-driven and remain at no charge to the family.
Founder Cara Belvin formed the United States nonprofit organisation, empowerHER in 2013 out of gratitude she had for all the support her family received after her own mother, Kit, died of breast cancer. Cara was just 9 years old and desperate to meet others who could relate to her loss. Now with the support of countless volunteers + donors around the world, Cara’s “simple” idea has become a reality.
In 2021, with the support of incredible Ambassadors, empowerHER launched in the UK and became an official Charity in December of 2022.
