Bromley & Croydon Women's Aid
Safe refuge and support to women and children fleeing domestic abuse
'When I came, I was very hopeless... You helped me with the police, court, university/job and even my mental health. You listened to me - without any fear or hesitation. You helped me like a friend.'
- Sara
For the last 50 years, BCWA have provided safe refuge, support, advice and empowerment to women like Sara so they can live free from domestic abuse, with independence and confidence.
Bromley and Croydon have consistently seen some of the highest rates of domestic abuse in Greater London and our goal is to ensure that no-one that seeks support from us is turned away. Our services are confidential, non-judgmental and inclusive.
We manage 9 communal refuges and 11 move-on homes, we run support groups, we offer professional counselling, we have a dedicated team for women without recourse to public funds, we work in schools to help prevent domestic abuse before it begins, and we provide training in councils, offices, police forces and hospitals.
Join us in our mission to end domestic abuse.
'I couldn’t leave my husband because he told me he would cancel my visa. His family in Afghanistan would find me and kill me. He told me there is no help for people like me in this country and the police want to send me back. BCWA and [my support worker] saved my life.'
