British Blind Sport (BBS) uses the power of sport to change the lives of children and adults with visual impairments (VI).
There are more than 2 million people with sight loss in the UK and BBS is the only national sport charity that specifically supports people with VI to ensure they have the same opportunities as sighted people to enjoy and participate in sport and physical activity.
At BBS, we know that sport serves as a springboard towards greater opportunities, enhancing the lives of people with VI & creating passion, inspiration & excitement. Studies show that taking part in regular physical activity boosts both physical and mental health and well-being, reducing loneliness and isolation and building self-esteem and confidence.
Every year, we reach more than 5000 people and deliver over 80 events for people with VI of all ages and abilities through our sports sections and Have A Go Days. BBS projects include First Steps, Find A Guide and See My Voice which are targeted at engaging specific groups of people with VI in the greatest need including children, young people and older people, BAME groups and those living in areas of disadvantage.
