The Hygiene Banks’ mission is to bring communities, businesses and thought leaders together to tackle hygiene poverty by giving access to products and being a voice for change. We have grown from the simple belief that we should all be able to access what we need to keep clean. It’s not right that feeling clean should be a privilege for anyone in our society. Yet, for many of the 14.5 million people living in poverty in the UK, hygiene products have become out-of-reach luxuries.
Our volunteer-led projects across the UK encourage the public and businesses to donate in-date, unused products via our network of drop-off points. Manufacturers and retailers also donate products. Our volunteers then redistribute these products to a network of local community partners - from food banks and women’s refuges to schools and homeless shelters - who offer these essentials to those service users who would otherwise go without. Everything donated locally helps locally.
So far, we have distributed over 1 million kilograms of essential hygiene, personal care and household cleaning products to over 2,500 community partners across the UK because everyone deserves to feel clean.
