Oily fish is a great source of omega three fish oils, and healthy fats are essential for a healthy diet. This quick pate is easy to make and a delicious way to eat hot smoked Mackerel as a starter. This will give you a nice boost of energy and is great  before or after a summer or winter run.
Ingredients (Serves 2)
2 hot smoked trout fillets - try peppered ones
½ tub low fat crème fraiche
1 lemon
Salt and pepper
Rough oatcakes
Watercress
Method
Flake the fish off it's skin into a bowl
Use a fork to mash up the flesh, keeping it slightly chunky
Add the crème fraiche and mix up
Season with a little salt and some pepper
Squeeze in the lemon juice and give a final mix
Serve spread onto oatcakes with watercress on the side
