Top 5 Tips for charity running over Christmas

Charity Running Over Christmas

You have taken the plunge and signed up for a charity running event and then oops…how is it already Christmas. Christmas time is splendid, but it can also be an extremely busy and very stressful time and finding time for you can be a real feat. Present buying, a string of parties and indulging in all the treats that come your way – how on earth will you find time to train for your charity running event?

If you have chosen your charity run over Christmas, then the great news is – you don’t have much choice, get your trainers on and get to the finish line. The harder task, is for those of us who have signed up for our charity runs that fall in the new year – and require us to put some training in!

If you commit to a running over the Christmas period, you will also benefit from having a little time to clear your head and being away from all those ever so catchy Christmas songs – sorry Mariah!

Here are 5 tips to ensure you continue your charity running training over Christmas.

1. Have a strict charity running training schedule – and stick to it.
2. Involve family and friends over the festive season, even if they don’t run alongside you – they could always meet you at your finish point with some mulled wine and a mince pie.
3. Request your family and friends not buy you those infamous spotty socks and contribute towards your fundraising target
4. Make it fun, embrace the spirit, you may decide to run through town in a Santa hat or draped in tinsel – don’t trip! This is guaranteed to get you at least a few smiles.
5. Schedule a run on Christmas eve or Christmas Day – we promise your Christmas lunch will taste better for it, and hey you have the right to have seconds….and thirds. Burp!
