At the start of the race the spectators from this beautiful town in the North West of England make you feel very welcome and will give the charity runner plenty of encouragement. As you get going you pass through the city by Chester Cathedral on to a section where you weave in and out of the historic Roman Walls and over the Old Dee Bridge. This will make this race for most scenery admiring runners. Out you go through a number of small welsh villages where the local support is as good as you would expect and then back across the ancient Roman Bridge in to England. After this you head along the home stretch and back onto the race course for a very well deserved cheer from the crowd as your name is announced over the loud speaker. Nice touch!
You are taking on a marathon and Chester has an amazing history related the Romans so if you don't get dressed up in a toga and start fundraising you are letting yourself down! Aim for £1250 in this running event. Check out the run for charity fundraising A to Z for some great ideas to help you reach your target.
The race has great support and you will see both local and national charities that see the potential of this race as a big fundraiser.
You are running a full marathon so make sure you allow enough time to complete a full marathon training plan. In addition to this there are a couple of noticeable hills so a little hill training will only benefit you.
Before the race everything is catered for very well and the organisation on the day is very good. Great medal and goody bag for all runners.
