The Principality Cardiff Half Marathon has grown into one of the largest and most exciting road races in Europe. It is Wales’ largest mass-participation and multi-charity fundraising event and the second largest half in the UK. Its flat, fast course passes all the city’s most breath-taking scenery and iconic landmarks including Cardiff Castle, the Principality Stadium, Civic Centre and stunning Cardiff Bay. There are currently over 120 Road Dahl Nurses caring for more than 33,000 seriously ill children, but there are still too many children with serious illnesses who do not receive this vital specialist care.
We understand how immensely difficult being diagnosed with a serious illness is for a child and their whole family. It is uncertain, overwhelming, scary, and deeply unfair. Roald Dahl Nurses are trained and dedicated experts in their field. They are a consistent presence in the child’s life from initial diagnosis through to the child’s transition to adult services. They advise, they reassure, and they become an extended part of the family.
The dedication and expertise of our nurses reduces A&E visits, hospital admissions and consultant appointments. They’re also a vital lifeline to the whole family, coordinating care and providing access to high quality emotional support.
