Reach is a friendly, caring base for incredible children and their families. We give support and information to inspire and build confidence. We offer fun activities to encourage Reach children to aim higher, whatever their age or ability. We work closely with ambassadors and mentors who have become Paralympic athletes, leaders, teachers, nurses, doctors, musicians and high achievers in all fields to inspire the children and young Reach members.
Reach families benefit from local branch networks throughout the UK and Ireland to provide an opportunity for children and parents to meet. Head office is always on hand for new families, existing members and health care proffessionals through telephone, email, print, What's App groups and social media, including closed groups .
We offer 'Personal Accident Insurance' cover for upper limbs, a hire scheme for one-handed recorders and a library of music for other instruments. A 'Try before you buy' loan scheme for useful equipment such as swim paddles, scissors and other gadgets.
Bursary Grants for members up to the age of 25yrs help with the cost of adaptations to equipment. The Annual Activity Week exclusively for Reach children aged 10-18yrs - run by Reach adults, is a massive highlight of the calendar year. Plus we are also developing 'Annual regional family weekends' where we encourage sharing experiences, resources and confidence building activities as a whole family.
We work with both children born missing part of one or both arms and hands, and children who lose limbs or the use of a limb due to traumatic accidents and illness.
