We work across the UK and beyond to provide inclusive and impactful cricket programmes (Wicketz, Super 1s and Table Cricket), empowering young people with disabilities and from disadvantaged communities to develop the knowledge, skills, capabilities and confidence required to overcome the challenges of inequality, raise their aspirations and reach their potential.

What the charity does
Did you know that:
- 8% of children in the UK are disabled
- 40% of disabled children are living in poverty
- Disabled young people aged 16-18 are at least twice as likely as their non-disabled peers to not be in education, employment or training. Rising to four times as likely by the age of 26
- Young people from disadvantaged communities are far less likely to engage in regular activity.
- That children from low income families are more likely to experience worse physical and mental health; do less well in school; and have fewer opportunities in the future.
It’s for these reasons that the charity’s programmes exist, to enhance the lives of disadvantaged and disabled young people across the country through sport. The Lord’s Taverners is working to break down barriers and empower young people to fulfil their potential, build inclusive communities and lay the foundations for a positive future through free cricket programmes, Wicketz, Super 1s and Table Cricket.
Table Cricket
For many young people with a severe physical or learning disability, particularly wheelchair users, participating in cricket is not possible. Aimed at disabled 8-18 year olds who would otherwise have no access to sport, table cricket is a pan-disability form of cricket played on an adapted table tennis table.
We organise a national programme of delivery in schools and community groups, and run an annual national competition that culminates in the potential once in a lifetime opportunity of a Finals Day at Lord’s Cricket Ground.

Super 1s
Based in communities rather than schools, Super 1s offers disabled young people aged 12-25 an
inclusive opportunity to play cricket at grassroots level. We work in 18 locations across the
UK, setting up local hubs where young people can come together, play, and learn vital life skills.

Wicketz
Designed to tackle disadvantage, Wicketz is a community cricket programme for children facing severe deprivation across the UK. Each of our 19 projects deals with issues in the local area, from health and wellbeing concerns to police and safety problems. Participants come along for the cricket and stay for the teambuilding, leadership and personal development opportunities.

Sports Kit Recycling
We receive donated kit from all over the UK. We then sort, pack and redistribute kit to projects all over the world – from youth teams in England, to girls’ projects in Brazil, refugee support programmes in Germany and slum projects in India.
