There are a number of things you will need to consider to ensure that your cake sale is a success. Firstly you need to decide on the date and venue of your fundraiser as you need there to be people to sell to. The best thing to do is to find out if there are any other events coming up that you can piggyback on, why drum up a charitable crowd if there is already one provided! Failing this your local town centre, shopping centre or even your work place can do the trick just make sure you have permission first.
Now you need a number of charity volunteers to help you, so Mum, Dad, Husband, friends from work the more the merrier. You don't want to be making all of the cakes yourself so get everyone on the case. If you get 10 friends to do a couple of cakes each suddenly with no effort you got a lot of cake to sell! Once they have helped make the cakes now you need to persuade them to help you sell them.
On the day there are a number of things you will need, tables, knives, tongs, bags, plates, serviettes, description labels, cash box, change, black or white board. Finally don't forget a sign stating clearly that you are collecting all of the money for a charity as this will help hugely with your cash collection and therefore your fundraising target.
There are a number of ways that you can make your bake sale really take off so why not try one, two or even all of the following ideas.
Try to get a little press coverage, this is of course great for your sales but more importantly it is great for your charity.
Add an element of fun to the day by dressing up as an animal or in your old PE kit. Just make parting with money for charity that little bit easier.
Why not add cups of tea or glasses of squash and increase the average fundraising pledge.
Not boring names like Dave the cake! Think about the sunrise sponge cake or tinker-bells fairy cakes, just be inventive.
Plan to have a set price on all of the cakes until a certain time of the day and then drop your prices as you don't want to be left with a tonne of unused cake.
Please make sure you thank everyone that helps you with your fundraising and that includes everyone who buys from your bake sale as on the day you are representing your charity. Good Luck!
