Women in Sport has worked since 1984 to secure lasting change for women and girls in sport and society. We know sport transforms lives and that it can give girls and women resilience, courage, self-belief, and a sense of belonging. So, our vision is that no-one is excluded from the joy, fulfilment, and lifelong benefits of sport.
We know gender stereotypes and institutional bias are holding girls and women back from sport, and in life, and we believe that:
1). It is wrong to deny women and girls access to sport.
2). The distinct physicality of women and girls must be understood and reflected in sport.
3). When sport includes women and girls it helps to tackle gendered economic and health inequalities
For this reason, we aim to:
• Deeply understand women and girls in all their diversity, at each lifestage.
• Raise Awareness of gender inequality in sport and why It matters.
• Pilot Solutions developing policies and concepts for change.
• Inspire Change through campaign, collaboration, and influence.
