The Give A Duck Foundation works with over 40 children’s cancer hospitals in the UK to provide every child diagnosed with cancer a Chemo Duck. Chemo Duck is soft, yellow and cuddly but more importantly, is fitted with a Hickman Line or Portacath to mirror the child’s treatment. Medical staff demonstrate the treatment on Chemo Duck to give the child a little understanding and a little control whilst facing the toughest journey of their young lives.
Just £25 could fund a Chemo Duck for a child with cancer. We don’t forget siblings and offer every sibling a Huggable Hope duck to help them feel supported and comforted. With the incredible support of volunteers, the charity also supplies the hospitals with a wide range of duck outfits (from superheroes and princesses to children’s favourite TV characters, animals and emergency services), so each time the children visit the hospital they get to select a new outfit for their huggable friend, helping to reduce fear and anxiety by making hospital visits less daunting and more something to look forward to.
Our mission is for every child diagnosed with cancer in the UK to receive a Chemo Duck and Huggable Hope for their sibling/s.
