A delicious and different way to eat fruit that still feels like a treat. These pears also make an elegant dinner party dessert, no one will notice that they are actually healthy too. A real winner if you are craving something late at night or need a little bit more fuel after a heavy gym session or run.
Ingredients
½ bottle white wine
1 vanilla pod
1 cinnamon stick
50g caster sugar
50g honey
1 lemon juice
2 ripe pears
Method
Peel the pears, leaving the stalk on
Place the wine, lemon juice, cinnamon stick, sugar and honey in a pan and place on a low heat
Split the vanilla pod and scrape out the seeds, adding to the poaching liquid
Stir until the sugar and honey have dissolved
Add the pears for 5-15 minutes, depending how ripe they are
Serve alone or with a small scoop of frozen yoghurt
