Going blind can be shattering. At any age, even partial sight loss can limit your independence, restrict your social interactions, and have a profound effect on your physical and mental wellbeing. But while 1 in 5 people in the UK will live with severe sight loss or blindness in their lifetime, less than 1.5% of public medical research funding is spent on eye disease.
Sight Research UK has a sole purpose: to beat sight loss faster. We raise funds to invest in world-class research that is on the cusp of turning the most promising scientific discoveries into new treatments, diagnostics, or devices for people with sight-threatening conditions. From amblyopia in young children to age-related macular degeneration, we fund world-class research into eye disease affecting children or adults. In the UK today, some 2 million people are living with a degree of sight loss that has a significant impact on their daily lives. Without new treatments for blinding conditions, this number is predicted to double by 2050. With your help, we can turn science into sight
