The start of this charity race is sectioned off in to pens to allow the faster runners to take off quickly and the not so serious runners to start enjoying the views. The charity support at this race is fantastic and it really gets you excited as you cross the line. Charity banners, t-shirts, buzzers can be seen and heard throughout the first 6 miles which takes you on a tour of some of London's greatest landmarks. You will see The London Eye, Buckingham Palace and the Royal Albert Hall to name a few. The race then takes you on through the Royal Parks which at that time of year are fully in bloom, making this part of the race the most beautiful and debatably the best. At this time, if you are lucky, you will also see the elites finishing the second lap of the park and it can be quite a spectacular sight seeing some of the top UK and overseas runners jostling for first place. The finish of the race is well presented with thousands of people lining the streets cheering on every last runner. A sense of emotion will come over you as you see other charity runners finishing and realising exactly what they have just achieved.
This is a charity event through and through and is a good distance for you to fundraise for. Would be great to aim for £1000 in this race, you know you can do it. Check out the run for charity fundraising A to Z for some great ideas to help you reach your target.
This is one of those races that sees the charity runner truly appreciated, supporters line the whole race and cheer you on from start to finish. Charities will be out in force supporting their runners and you will even have bands playing in your honour.
This is a straight half marathon course so no need to put in more training than a training plan of this nature would suggest. Train hard but enjoy the views.
The pre race information is always of high quality and you will receive it on time which is always a big plus for the organisers. On the day, managing a race of this size is not easy but it is done in a military fashion. Great giveaways and a very different medal.
