Charity runners will be charmed and kept motivated with live music, local Oxford bands and DeeJays all along the course.
World-leading charity, Medical Detection Dogs, trains dogs to save lives using their amazing sense of smell.
It does this with Medical Alert Assistance Dogs and Bio Detection Dogs, both of which can be trained to detect even the tiniest trace of the smell caused by a medical condition.
Medical Alert Assistance Dogs give a few minutes warning to people with complex health conditions when they are in danger of having a potentially life-threatening medical event, so they can take the necessary action and prevent injury and hospital admission. Conditions such as PoTS, Addison’s disease, Type 1 diabetes and non-epileptic seizures are among those that the dogs can be trained to detect and alert well before their human partner is aware that an episode is about to occur.
Bio Detection Dogs are trained to find even the tiniest smells associated with diseases like cancer, Parkinson’s, UTIs and Pseudomonas.
This pioneering work could help scientists and medics develop faster, cheaper, non-invasive methods of diagnosis that could impact upon thousands of lives.
Medical Detection Dogs rely on the public’s generosity and goodwill. Find out more visit www.medicaldetectiondogs.org.uk
