Over 300,000 children develop cancer worldwide each year. Most of these children live in developing countries where survival rates can be as low as 10%, compared to 80% in high income countries. Thousands of children are dying unnecessarily when they could be treated or cured.
Worse still, the majority of children with cancer die in pain due to a lack of effective palliative care.
Childhood cancer can be curable even in resource-poor countries, the lives of cancer-stricken children can be saved with relatively simple and inexpensive drugs and procedures. For example, all it takes is £10 to pay for a week’s worth of pain medication for four terminally ill children in Malawi; £50 would cover the costs of a round of treatment for a sick child in Ghana.
Our vision is a world where every child with cancer has equal access to the best treatment and care.
