Thrive is the gardening for health charity. We use gardening to bring about positive changes in the lives of people living with disabilities or ill health, or who are isolated, disadvantaged or vulnerable.
We believe that everyone with a defined need should have access to therapeutic gardening and horticulture programmes, wherever they live, and are actively encouraged to use gardening as part of their personal health and wellbeing management. We do this by:
1. Delivering therapeutic gardening programmes, known as social and therapeutic horticulture (STH) at our centres in Reading, London and Birmingham.
2. Providing training, education and consultancy for other professionals and organisations interested in ‘green care’.
3. Hosting a digital free Gardening for Health Information Service ‘Get Gardening’ for advice on gardening and how to adapt techniques to suit different disabilities and health conditions so that everyone can feel the benefit of gardening in their own space and time.
