Sharewear Clothing Scheme

At Sharewear we know that a lack of appropriate clothing leads to isolation and exclusion from social, work and school settings. Having access to clean, well-fitting, and appropriate clothes can make a huge difference to how people perceive themselves, how they are perceived by others and their ability to join in with everyday life.

We send pre-sorted clothing to partner organisations ensuring they have immediate clothing supplies for those in need. Clients are referred by one of our partners. They visit our clothing centre which is designed to look and feel like a shop. This allows people to choose clothes that fit their style and personality, preserving their dignity. This is a really important part of the Sharewear ethos as we want to ensure that those receiving our clothing have a nice, supportive experience whilst doing so. 

In 2025 because of our supporters, we provided over 23,000 clothing interventions giving each person between three and five outfits each time. In 2024 this figure exceeded 24,000 interventions. Behind each number is someone facing financial hardship for who your clothing donations and monetary donations to Sharewear made life brighter.

As well as the social impact we also measure the positive environmental impact of your support and our work. Last year we diverted over 86 tonnes of clothing from potentially hitting local landfill, this was up from 74 tonnes in 2024. By redistributing this clothing for reuse rather than recycling we are maximising the positive environmental impact of our operation.
