Samaritans of Coventry and District

Coventry and District Samaritans is a registered charity based in Earlsdon, run entirely by unpaid volunteers. We provide a free, confidential 24-hour helpline for people who are upset, troubled or are feeling suicidal.

People contact us for many different reasons and some of the main concerns mentioned are mental health/illness, family, loneliness, relationship problems, financial difficulties and physical health. Suicidal feelings are expressed during 1 in 5 of those calls for help where we have provided emotional support.

We have been providing this listening service since 1964 and our district also covers surrounding Warwickshire towns and villages including Leamington Spa, Kenilworth, Rugby, Warwick, Nuneaton and Bedworth where we work with a range of local partners from the private, public, voluntary and community sectors. You may see our volunteers spreading awareness at such diverse places as railway stations, hospitals, prisons, libraries, theatres, football and rugby stadiums, as well as events like local festivals.

In 2015 we became the proud holders of the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. This is the highest award that can be given to a local volunteer group in the UK and is the equivalent to an MBE.

Supporting us is supporting those in need in local and national society.
