Operation Smile

Operation Smile UK is an international medical charity providing free, safe surgery and comprehensive care to children and adults born with cleft conditions. Every three minutes, a child is born somewhere in the world with a cleft lip or cleft palate. Without treatment, cleft conditions can make it difficult for children to eat, speak or even breathe. Babies who can’t feed properly risk malnutrition, which can be fatal. Many children also face stigma and bullying as they grow up. 

Through a global network of medical volunteers, dedicated cleft centres and local hospital partners, Operation Smile provides life-changing surgery as well as ongoing care and support for patients and families.
