Heartbeat is a dedicated charity supporting individuals of all ages with congenital or cardiovascular disease within the Wessex region and beyond, primarily by supporting the Wessex Cardiac Unit at University Hospital Southampton. The charity achieves this by providing specialised equipment, services, and facilities to enhance the care and experience of patients and their families during their cardiac journey. In addition, Heartbeat plays a pivotal role in fundraising against pioneering projects aimed at improving heart health. These initiatives range from cutting-edge technological advancements such as their 3D Heart project, to essential human-centred support services like their cardiac youth worker pilot role. Together with the supporters and the generosity of donors, Heartbeat have been able to put in place crucial improvements in the Wessex Cardiac Unit, that wouldn’t otherwise have happened; these benefit the patients, their relatives, the clinical teams and many others, who consistently tell Heartbeat that they make a real difference.
