"Calon Hearts is the leading Heart Screening and Defibrillator charity. One third of all deaths in the country are the result of cardiovascular disease. At Calon, we strive to provide accessible heart screenings across the country for anyone over the age of 16. The importance of a heart screening can be the difference between life and death. A heart screening, in most cases, allows early detection and prevention of cardiovascular diseases.

Sudden Cardiac Death in the young is an under-recognised health problem and tragedy in the UK. It is estimated that at least 12 deaths per week are a result of SCD in the young. Furthermore, a significant proportion of these deaths are preventable by simple screening with an ECG and echocardiogram.

Accessibility to a defibrillator is key to saving a life. Each minute that is wasted reduces the chances of saving that life by 10%. Therefore, it is our mission to ensure that nobody is further than 100 metres away from a fully working publicly accessible defibrillator.

We are dedicated to improving the health of communities, since the launch of our charity in 2013, we have supplied nearly 29,000 defibrillators, trained nearly 96,000 people in defibrillator and CPR use and screened nearly 15,000 people for heart abnormalities.
