We have a dedicated helpline for any caring questions, an online forum, and interactive online sessions such as ‘Share and Learn’ to enhance the wellbeing of carers and help them connect.

We listen to carers’ experiences and share our insights with local authorities, employers and other organisations to help solve the problems that carers face. Carers UK is a driving force for positive change, committed to improving the lives of unpaid carers.

We’ve been campaigning with carers for almost 60 years, transforming understanding and winning critical developments in carers’ rights.

•              It is estimated that the number of unpaid carers across the UK is 5.7 million.

•              The value of unpaid care is equivalent to a second NHS in England and Wales, a cost of £162 billion per year.

•              One in seven people in the workplace in the UK are juggling work and care 4.7% of the population in England and Wales are providing 20 hours or more of care a week.

•              On average, 600 people a day leave work to care for an ill, elderly or disabled relative or friend.

•              On average it takes over two years for someone to identify as a carer
