Too many young people facing trauma, abuse, and disability struggle to be heard. At Waves, we use impactful music sessions to give them a voice. Music isn’t just an art form; it’s a powerful tool for expression, healing, and resilience. Where words fail, music speaks. With your support, we can bring life-changing music sessions to those who need them most.
Waves Music Therapy is a UK charity dedicated to transforming lives through the power of music. We specialise in delivering evidence-based, impactful music therapy sessions to support the mental health and well-being of people with complex needs. Our highly skilled team offers individual and group sessions tailored to a wide range of needs—from autism and SEND support to mental health interventions and community music projects.
We take an innovative approach, not only delivering music therapy sessions but using rap, spoken word, and songwriting to ensure accessibility and engagement for all. Over 91% of our sessions are fully funded, removing financial barriers and reaching those most in need.
Recognised nationally for our impact, Waves has been featured by the BBC for Comic Relief, invited to Downing Street to highlight the role of music in mental health, and partnered with organisations like NHS Sussex, Youth Music, and the National Lottery.
Through music, we give vulnerable people a voice. We help individuals build confidence, express themselves, and develop resilience—ensuring that no one is left unheard.
How Your Support Helps
100% of your donations to Waves go directly to support young people with complex needs. Here is an example of how you can help:
£100 can purchase instruments which support a child to communicate and express themselves.
£250 can support a group of children to engage in music therapy group sessions to support their learning, communication and play.
£700 can provide a term of music therapy for a child in crisis
£1000 will mean a music therapist can work on a hospital ward, bringing support and joy to children through music.
£2500 means we can support a school to have a music therapist on their team to reach children who are struggling at school, helping them to thrive.
