The Compassionate Friends

Supporting bereaved parents and their families

The death of a child is every parent's worst nightmare.

We offer compassionate peer support to parents, adult siblings and grandparents who are surviving the death of a child, sibling or grandchild from any cause and of any age (from 1 month into adulthood).

The Compassionate Friends (TCF) is a charitable organisation of bereaved parents, siblings and grandparents dedicated to the support and care of other similarly bereaved family members who have suffered the death of a child or children of any age and from any cause.

How Your Support Helps

Our charity wouldn't exist without our fantastic fundraisers. Your support means the world to us and offers direct and lifechanging support for parents, siblings and grandparents in their darkest moments of grief.

Here are some ways in which your funds might help bereaved parents and families...

  • £10 funds empathy and listening support for a grieving parent with one of our trained helpline volunteers.
  • £50 buys crafting materials for a candle lighting remembrance session at a weekend retreat.
  • £300 funds a bursary for a parent or sibling who is struggling financially to attend a weekend retreat with similarly bereaved parents and siblings.
  • £1000 sends personalised support packs to newly bereaved parents and adult siblings for 6 months.
  • £3000 funds the running costs of our national helpline for 1 month.
