Reasons to Run for Charity during Christmas

A question for all charity runners out there: How could Christmas day -  Arguably the best day of the year get much better?

Answer: With a charity running training session – of course!

A massive kick of endorphins and a energy boost coming right your way, with love from yourself on Christmas day – catchy isn’t it?! We know, we know, there is so much to remember on Christmas day and the lead up to – but you must also remember your charity running event and stealing time for your charity runs is the perfect way of getting a little deserved time away from it all. Your charity running event may be a 5k or 10k for charity, you may have signed up for a half marathon for charity, or a marathon for charity, an obstacle race for charity or even a fun run for charity – no matter the distance of your charity running event – it deserves a little time and attention over the Christmas period to. Here at run for charity, we believe that completing a charity training session on Christmas day is a brilliant idea. Here is why:

1. Fundraising donors will take you seriously.

If you r family & friends witness you continuing your training over the silly season, they will not be able to help but see the dedication you are putting towards your charity running event and your cause. Christmas is also a great time to remind your community that it is a great time to donate to your fundraising page!

2. Join charity running guardian angels

As devout charity runner’s we understand that it can look a little selfish heading out for our training for our charity runs on Christmas day, especially while the family are slogging over a hot stove. Here is the charity running magic weapon – you are a charity running guardian angel, you will look after everything, well everything that incorporates leaving the house and getting in a little run. Your good deeds could include walking the neighbour’s new puppy, dropping in those forgotten Christmas cards to the neighbours, rushing out for extra cream for the pudding or taking the little ones out to try out their new skateboards! Two birds, one charity running stone!

3. Sharing is caring

A strategically planned10K mid-morning charity running training session is the perfect way to ensure that you are not preparing Christmas alone, share out some of the Christmas lunch cooking responsibilities with your family and friends, this means you will actually have time to run. Get organised with a meticulous plan of everything that needs doing and who is responsible and put in in writing.
