Housing Justice brings together communities and finds solutions to homelessness by building personal connections, a sense of belonging, and creating justice in the housing system. Our work is channelled through five key projects, including:

Citadel: Citadel is a volunteer-powered homelessness prevention project that supports people experiencing, or at risk of homelessness, to find a place to live, settle into a home, and feel part of a welcoming and supportive community.

Emergency Accommodation: The Housing Justice Night Shelter Network unites and supports faith and community-led projects that provide emergency accommodation for people experiencing rough sleeping. We provide expert guidance, training, and help accessing funding to enhance services. With a focus on collaboration and local action, shelters are empowered to expand their impact, offering wraparound support and helping guests take the next step toward a safe, stable home.

London Lettings Network: The London Lettings Network is a free, online platform that lists rental properties in London which accept housing benefit, breaking down barriers to the private rented sector and giving agency to people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

Hosting: The Hosting Project supports people seeking sanctuary who have no recourse to public funds and nowhere safe place to stay. Volunteer hosts welcome guests into their homes, offering not just a bed, but dignity, stability, and belonging. Our Hosting team provides wraparound support to both hosts and guests — from training and regular check-ins to help navigating the hostile and complex UK immigration system.

Refugee Lodgings: Refugee Lodgings provides a safe and supported housing option for newly granted refugees at risk of homelessness, by matching them with people in London who have a spare room and want to offer both a solution to migrant homelessness and a stepping stone into stable, independent living. Each six-month lodgings placement offers a vital safety net for those leaving Home Office accommodation, helping them avoid rough sleeping while they prepare to move into the private rental market. Resident landlords can earn rental income, making it a sustainable and practical model for community-driven responses to homelessness.

Our work is channelled through five main initiatives:
- The Winter Night Shelter Network: we provide funding, training, support and accreditation for community-based night shelters across England. We have created a ground-breaking website enabling people experiencing homelessness to identify available rental properties that accept DSS payment. We pay deposits etc if needed.
- Faith in Affordable Housing: we work with churches to develop affordable homes on their derelict or disused land.
- Hosting: we run a hosting programme for destitute migrants while they resolve their immigration status. These individuals would otherwise be forced to sleep on the streets as they are not entitled to benefits or housing.
- Refugee Lodgings: we pair resident landlords with a spare room with newly-granted refugees at risk of homelessness for six months. This provides the resident landlord with a rental income and the refugee with a home while they find work.
- Citadel: a homelessness prevention programme which utilises trained volunteers to support people into homes, and then helps them to maintain their tenancies, access training, support, healthcare, bank accounts etc.
