The Tom Bowdidge Youth Cancer Foundation supports young people aged 13-24 in the UK who are diagnosed with cancer, focusing on relief, care, well-being, and rehabilitation. With around 2,600 new cases annually, young people in school, university, or work often find their lives turned upside down by the illness. Alongside the physical challenges of treatment, they face emotional, financial, and social difficulties. The foundation advocates for treating young people as individuals first and cancer patients second, ensuring they receive specialised treatment and support in age-appropriate environments.
Offering clinical, practical, financial, and emotional assistance, the foundation aims to help these young patients navigate their diagnosis. Every day, seven young people in the UK are diagnosed with cancer, and while the foundation reaches many, it aims to support even more across England and Wales. Recognising the significant impact cancer has on mental health and well-being, the foundation is committed to addressing both the emotional and physical aspects of the disease.
