"St Helena Hospice helps people face incurable illness and bereavement in north east Essex, supporting them, their families, friends and carers.
We also help adults and children who have been bereaved, regardless of how or where their loved one died.
We support members of our community, helping them make their own choices and live with dignity, offering people individual care and total support, regardless of their diagnosis or personal circumstances.
Our support is provided where and when it is needed, whether at home, at the Hospice or over the phone through our 24/7 advice line, SinglePoint.
St Helena Hospice is an independent charity, providing our services free of charge. Only 23% of our income comes from the NHS. That means 73% of the income needed to run St Helena is raised through the local community giving donations, buying in St Helena shops, paying for care from Radfield Home Care in support of St Helena, playing Your Hospice Lottery, and leaving gifts in Wills.
We rely heavily on the help and generosity of our fundraisers, donors and volunteers. Without them we wouldn’t be here."

St Helena Hospice provides vital care and support to people across north east Essex who are living with an incurable illness, as well as those coping with bereavement and loss. Every day, St Helena helps local people make the most of the time they have, whether that's in the Hospice, at home, or within the community.
Their expert teams provide specialist medical and nursing care, physiotherapy, counselling, bereavement support and spiritual care, helping patients and their loved ones navigate some of life's most difficult moments with dignity, comfort and compassion.
Your fundraising could make a real difference
- £50 could provide three hours of dignity and comfort for a patient in their final days through the care of a Clinical Support Worker.
- £250 could fund two home visits from a Clinical Nurse Specialist, offering expert guidance and support to patients and families.
- £500 could provide eight hours of specialist medical care to help manage pain and relieve complex symptoms.
- £1,000 could fund nine emergency visits from a SinglePoint rapid response nurse, helping patients remain comfortable at home during a crisis.
- £2,500 could provide 80 hours of compassionate day and night care from St Helena's expert palliative nurses.
