We welcome refugees by finding them a local friend. We believe in the power of friendship to transform lives. We are a small charity with low overheads but a big social impact.
It’s a way of offering support through joyful human connection. Refugees make new friends and feel a new sense of belonging. Our volunteers enjoy a rewarding way to show kindness to a stranger and to make our communities more welcoming places. It’s a two-way street: many of our friendships last for years.
We work across Greater London, Greater Manchester and Tyneside. Your support will help us match more warmhearted friends to lonely refugees.
Your support will help us introduce more warmhearted friends to lonely refugees. The funds you raise will allow us to recruit, screen and train volunteers and then carefully match them to asylum seekers and refugees who need a friend.
Having a friend can be life changing, as one refugee told us: “Greg brought back the joy that I lost years ago.”
We support and evaluate the friendship and we’re there to step in if needed during the initial three-month period.
We also hold events and outings so that HostNation friends can meet each other and feel part of a supportive social network.
We use your email to help with registration and contact you if there are issues. Your data is handled as per our Privacy Policy, and you can object by reaching out to us.
