CJD Support Network

Helping ensure practical and emotional support is available for anyone affected by CJD or prion disease

The CJD Support Network was set up in 1995 by relatives of people who have died with CJD, and is the only UK charity dedicated to the disease. Our mission is to help ensure that appropriate practical and emotional support is available for all strains of CJD in the UK, and those at increased risk of CJD. Our strategies for fulfilling our mission include; providing practical and emotional support via our national helpline and support email service, supporting those in financial need through care grants, linking those with similar experiences via our online community and in person support meetings, providing information to professionals. Our community is made up primarily of individuals and families whose lives have been touched by CJD. Our management committee includes individuals whose families have been affected by various forms of the disease, as well as medical and care experts.

How Your Support Helps

We receive no government funding at all, so we are grateful to all who fundraise for the charity.  Your efforts will help provide online support groups, a telephone helpline, research grants, care grants, the poduction of high quality information, our yearly in person community meeting, and more.

If you take on an event for us, we are pleased to offer:

  • a contribution to registration cost, with a suggested fundraising minimum
  • a CJD Network t shirt or running shirt
  • to share your story on our social media, website and newsletter
  • a fundraising pack, personalised for you, including information on CJD, social media posts and more;
  • to set up a JustGiving page for you if you would like us to
  • to provide your supporters with CJD Support Network t shirts for a donation of £10 a shirt
  • to work on any individual support that might suit you.
