Supporting research into musculoskeletal conditions to transforming lives


We need your help! Musculoskeletal problems impact all sectors of society from children to the elderly with over 20 million people in the UK living with an MSK condition. That’s about a third of the population, with 11 per cent of those affected being under 35.

Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery is a highly cost effective form of treatment which aims to restore pain free mobility for patients. By restoring mobility, Trauma and Orthopaedic surgery can not only help people stay active for longer, but deliver major economic savings - enabling people to return to work, or live more independently.

Through Joint Action, the orthopaedic research appeal of the BOA, we help patients by raising funds for and promoting research into musculoskeletal disorders and to improve orthopaedic treatment, restoring mobility and giving people back their freedom and independence.

How Your Support Helps

What Your Gift Can Do: 

  • £25 helps fund vital lab analysis into why hip implants fail — bringing us closer to longer-lasting joint replacements.
  • £50 provides hands-on surgical training with cutting-edge techniques that directly improve outcomes for patients undergoing joint replacement.
  • £100 drives forward critical research to prevent life-threatening infections and complications after trauma and fracture surgeries.
