Barons Court Project

Supporting people experiencing homelessness / mental health issues in West London

Barons Court Project is Hammersmith & Fulham’s only day centre supporting people who are experiencing homelessness or living with mental health issues.

Our Drop-in centre provides a safe, supportive space and life-changing services to those who need them most. We provide an environment where people can express themselves and feel a part of a community.

Through our services, we help to put people in control of their own lives by providing stepping stones for them to make informed choices within a practical and emotional support network.

Annually, we receive around 14,000 visits and support over 900 people.

To enable everyone to live the life they deserve.

How Your Support Helps

Barons Court Project intends to add a new floor to its Day Centre by converting the loft space into an art studio for its HomeLess Made artists and community art classes. The room will also be used for its men's and women's group wellbeing activities.

The building project includes three rooflights on the front roof and two dormer windows on the new rear mansard extension, ensuring ample natural light. Storage space will be created for art materials.

A new staircase will be installed to facilitate access between the two floors.

We will extend the laundry room on the first floor to double the number of washes for rough sleepers.

Additionally, the existing art room and office will be converted into a second sitting-room and tranquil library space where guests can relax and read, fostering a welcoming environment for relaxation and community engagement. Installation of storage lockers for guests’ valuables.

Why it's a great idea:

- To enhance our facilities to provide a home for those who do not have one, and for those who do not feel at home within themselves.
- Lay the foundations for the next 40 years to meet the needs of the homeless community.
- Art studio using natural light to support both creativity and mental wellbeing.
- Enable more Homeless Made artists to join the programme by offering a dedicated art space tailored to their needs.
- Generate additional revenue by increasing the volume of artworks produced for sale, benefiting both the artists and the organisation.
- Install an extra washer/drier in the expanded laundry room to double our capacity.
- Create cohesive community spaces, fostering inclusivity and meaningful connections among guests.
- Increase our seating capacity for guests by 45%.
