Asylum Justice is the only charity in Wales providing free, independent legal
advice and representation to asylum seekers, refugees and vulnerable
migrants.
We step in where legal aid no longer reaches, ensuring that people who fear
persecution can obtain protection, reunite with family members and rebuild their lives
in safety.
Established in 2005, we are regulated by the Immigration Advice Authority (IAA) and
provide specialist legal services to those who fall outside the scope of legal aid, or
who are otherwise unable to secure representation. In a legal system increasingly
defined by complexity, hostility and inequality, our services are often the last and only
source of help for people facing life-or-death situations.
Alongside our direct work which protects the fundamental human rights of the people
we assist, we are part of networks like Sanctuary Coalition Cymru and work with
partners such as the British Red Cross, to address the systemic problems in the
asylum and immigration systems which give rise to the need for our services.
Operating from Cardiff with a remote appointment service that reaches every part of
Wales, we support hundreds of individuals and families each year. By securing legal
status, preventing wrongful removals and reuniting families, we not only transform
lives but also reduce demand on overstretched welfare services.
