Action for Carers helps Surrey's unpaid carers with information, practical help, emotional support, events, advice and much more. Caring for a disabled or unwell parent, spouse or child, can take a toll on your mental and physical health, as well as having major financial and practical effects on your life. But we give carers support, advice, information and a little time for themselves, helping them feel less alone, less stressed and more in control of their lives. We help Surrey’s unpaid carers, by phone, through face-to-face meetings, workshops and training. Our free support includes our Helpline, information on rights and benefits, guidance on helping move their cared-for, staff helping carers in Surrey’s hospitals, advocacy, and other practical and emotional help. We also run support groups and wellbeing events and have ‘drop in’ Hubs across Surrey.
Our specialist service for under 18s gives impartial information and support to young carers and their families, minimising the impact of their caring role. We run workshops and groups, and we give young carers time out from caring, with fun and social wellbeing activities, helping them reach their full potential.
