World Child Cancer

Over 400,000 children develop cancer worldwide each year. Most of these children live in developing countries where survival rates can be as low as 10%, compared to 80% in high income countries. Thousands of children are dying unnecessarily when they could be treated or cured.

Worse still, the majority of children with cancer die in pain due to a lack of effective palliative care.

Childhood cancer can be curable even in resource-poor countries, the lives of cancer-stricken children can be saved with relatively simple and inexpensive drugs and procedures. For example, all it takes is £10 to pay for essential blood tests for three children with cancer pre-chemotherapy in Cameroon; £30 could support the reliable supply of essential drugs for three children with cancer in Myanmar and £47 could pay for a round of life-saving chemotherapy for a child with cancer in Ghana.

Our vision is a world where every child with cancer has equal access to the best treatment and care.
