Disability Action Haringey (DAH) was formed in 2020 with the aim of supporting disabled people in the London Borough of Haringey maintain their independence and freedom. We are committed to the social model of disability and building a society that accepts and accommodates everyone.
As a Deaf and Disabled Persons’ Organisation, our services will always be centred on the demands of the service users themselves, which leads us to take a holistic approach to support.
What will your fundraising support?
Your support will enable Disability Action Haringey (DAH) to deliver vital, user-led services and drive long-term change for D/deaf & disabled people across Haringey.
Advice, Advocacy and Independent Living
DAH provides integrated, trauma-informed advice and advocacy services, supporting D/deaf & disabled residents with benefits, housing, social care and crisis issues. A key focus of this work is enabling independent living through specialist support on Direct Payments.
We offer tailored guidance for both new and existing Direct Payment holders, including support with recruitment, employment responsibilities and sustaining personal assistant arrangements. Alongside this, our peer support programme connects residents to share lived experience, build confidence and better understand how to use Direct Payments effectively.
Community-Led Support and Inclusion
Our Deaf Group Haringey delivers accessible, culturally appropriate spaces for Deaf residents, including regular social sessions and monthly advice drop-ins. These spaces reduce isolation, improve access to information and strengthen community connection.
Strengthening the D/deaf & Disabled Community
As a user-led organisation, DAH works in partnership with the community to promote the social model of disability. Through our ambassador programme and co-production groups, we support residents to influence services, shape local decision-making and hold systems to account.
Your funding helps build leadership, confidence and collective voice within the community—ensuring that lived experience drives change.
Advocacy and Systems Change
DAH plays a key role in advocating for the rights of D/deaf & disabled people locally and beyond. We work with local authority partners, health systems and regional networks to challenge inequality, influence policy and push for more inclusive, accessible services.
Your support strengthens our ability to campaign, represent and amplify the voices of those too often excluded from decision-making.
Challenge Events – Fundraising for Impact
We offer a range of accessible charity challenge events throughout the year. Participants can secure a subsidised place for a small registration fee, with DAH covering the remaining cost. In return, we ask participants to fundraise to support our work.
By taking part, you are directly contributing to life-changing support, stronger communities and a fairer Haringey.
