The CRUMBS Project is a Bournemouth-based charity supporting adults who face barriers to independence, including disabilities, mental health conditions, stabilised addiction, acquired brain injuries, and neurodiversity. At our core is a commitment to helping people build confidence, develop practical skills and reconnect with their sense of self and purpose.
Through hands-on training, mentoring and real work experience, we create opportunities for our trainees to grow in a supportive and purposeful environment. We focus particularly on pathways into hospitality and catering, equipping individuals with transferable skills, industry knowledge and the confidence to take their next steps.
We believe everyone deserves the chance to thrive, whatever their starting point. This belief underpins everything we do. Our approach is simple: we meet people where they are, support their goals and walk alongside them as they progress. Whether someone is facing long-term unemployment, rebuilding after difficult life experiences, or entering the workplace for the first time, we provide a safe and encouraging space where progress is recognised and setbacks are part of the journey.
CRUMBS is about more than training. It’s about belonging, building resilience and forming meaningful connections. Every achievement (no matter how small) helps shift confidence.
Together with our participants, we’re not just changing circumstances; we’re helping people move forward with greater independence, purpose and belief in what they can achieve.
Fundraising at The CRUMBS Project directly enables adults with disabilities to build confidence, independence and real-world skills through hospitality training. Our training model provides hands-on experiences in cooking, service, and customer interaction - helping individuals grow in confidence by learning in safe, supportive, real-life environments.
Through this training, adults develop essential life skills such as teamwork, communication, time management and problem-solving. These are not just workplace skills, they are the foundations of greater independence in everyday life.
Fundraising also creates meaningful pathways forward. By gaining accredited training, practical experience and exposure to working environments like kitchens and events, trainees are better prepared to move into employment or volunteering. It helps turn uncertainty about the future into clear, achievable next steps.
Most importantly, this support tackles the challenges many adults with disabilities face (low confidence, social isolation and barriers to employment) helping them feel included, capable and ready to move forward.
Every person who chooses to run, fundraise or support an event becomes part of someone else’s journey. Event runners don’t just raise money; they create opportunities for our trainees to discover what they are capable of.
Each mile completed helps fund training sessions, build confidence, and open doors to employment and independence. It means more individuals can step into environments where they feel valued, supported and able to succeed.
By taking on a challenge, event runners are helping someone else overcome theirs - turning effort into real, lasting change.
