SLOW: Supporting Bereaved Parents and Siblings is a UK charity providing long-term bereavement support to families after the death of a child. Founded in 2007 by bereaved parents, SLOW’s peer-led model combines lived experience with evidence-based practice. Its approach has been independently evaluated by clinical psychologists, with published research evidencing its benefits, and has been nationally recognised with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.
SLOW supports bereaved parents and siblings from the age of six through to adulthood through regular, free peer-led support groups and creative workshops. Grief affects every family member differently, and without the right support families can experience isolation, relationship breakdown and long-term emotional distress. SLOW recognises that grief is not something to be fixed, but something families learn to live with, supported by others who understand and can offer hope through shared experience.
Support is delivered through weekly in-person groups across London and online groups accessible to families across the UK. Sibling support is provided through age-appropriate creative workshops that give children and young people safe ways to express grief and talk about their sibling. All groups are facilitated by trained bereaved parents or siblings and are underpinned by safeguarding, reflective practice and clinical supervision.
SLOW is a small charity with a big impact. Every pound you raise helps bereaved parents and siblings access free, long-term support after the death of a child — support that often doesn’t exist elsewhere.
Because we’re small, your fundraising doesn’t disappear into a system. It pays directly for trained facilitators, safe weekly groups and creative workshops that help families feel less alone. Your challenge could be the reason a family finds understanding, connection and hope when they need it most.
