In some parts of London, people live 12 years longer in good health than others. London is facing an inactivity crisis, with those in the poorest communities facing the greatest challenges of inequality and barriers to leading an active life, exacerbated by the cost-of-living crisis.
But it doesn't have to be this way.
At London Sport, we want every Londoner to live longer, healthier, and happier lives through being active. As a charity, we focus our effort on helping children and adults in the most deprived communities who face the greatest challenges of inequality.
As a strategic leader, advocate and convenor for London’s grassroots sport and physical activity sector, we collaborate with London’s local authorities and other organisations to ensure more equitable and inclusive access to sport and physical activity.
If people led more active lives, we could tackle obesity, increase life expectancy, improve children's academic performance and mental health and reduce pressure on the NHS.
Every £1 invested in sport and physical activity generates almost £4 in return across health and well-being. stronger communities and the economy. That's £10b of economic and social value for London.
From grassroot to government, communities to corporates, we're calling on individuals and organisations to join our movement and raise vital funds to help us tackle inequalities.
What's coming up in the run for charity events calendar? It’s never too late to join one of these great events.
