WEST Youth Zone (Hammersmith and Fulham Youth Zone)
A purpose-built space for West London’s young people to unlock potential
Based in Hammersmith & Fulham, WEST Youth Zone is a purpose-built space for West London’s young people aged 8 – 19, and up to 25 for those with additional needs. The building is fizzing with energy and crammed with incredible facilities.
As part of the OnSide Youth Zones network, young people from across the borough and beyond have access to fantastic facilities for just £5 for an annual membership and 50p per visit. Members can also enjoy a tasty hot meal for just £1 in our BiteCity Café!
WEST is staffed by skilled and dedicated youth workers who truly believe in young people – helping them see what they can achieve, and giving them the skills, confidence and ambition to go for it.
We offer 30+ activities each session ranging from sports, climbing and media to cooking, drama and music production. We also work with local partners to provide young people with outstanding additional programs.
Macy’s Story – Finding Her Voice at WEST
Macy first came to WEST feeling nervous and unsure, but quickly found a welcoming, creative space where she could grow in confidence and explore her passions.
"The music at WEST is great. You find loads of people with different talents like drummers or guitarists and other singers. You can explore ideas with the youth workers and explain what you like. You can even work together with other members on a project.”
"I also love art here, especially because of Brian – the youth worker. He lets everybody do their own thing, but he brings everybody together in a way. You can do what you like, but everyone is part of the conversation.”
Through WEST, Macy has built friendships, developed her creativity, and gained confidence to try new things.
"I’ve done stuff I didn’t think I would – workshops, performances, even recorded music. I thought I’d be stuck doing something I didn’t want to do. It was a big worry for me. But having this place, I get to talk to other people who have had creative jobs, I’ve even considered youth work. The Youth Zone allows you to learn how life works in a different and additional way to school – I think that’s such a great thing!”
