The Borne Foundation

'Being born is the most dangerous thing we do in our lives. Our aim at Borne is to keep babies in the womb – where they belong; where they will mature and grow best; where their development will be best.'' Professor Mark Johnson, Borne Founder

Premature birth is the leading cause of infant mortality around the world today. Many babies who survive often suffer lifelong disability. It deprives families of the joy of parenthood and robs millions of babies of their chance to thrive.

Unfortunately, there have been no new treatments to prolong pregnancy in over 50 years and rates of premature birth have barely changed in the past decade.

Research is the start of all discovery and Borne is dedicated to changing the landscape of premature birth by raising the profile of this devastating outcome.

Our goal is to reduce rates of premature birth. With your support, we will be able to advance our knowledge of pregnancy and childbirth, and improve the lives of mothers and babies through funding ground-breaking research.
